Linux Remains Unbeaten in pwn2own Hacking Contest

Posted: 31 Mar 2008 08:13 AM CDT

As reported earlier CanSecWest conference was designed to test zero day vulnerability against three leading desktop operating systems. The result is out:

[1] The MacBook Air went first

[2] Windows Vista was cracked (hacked) on the last day of the contest

[3] Linux remained undefeated

Although several attendees tried to crack the Linux laptop, nobody could pull it off, said Terri Forslof, a manager of security response with TippingPoint. “I was surprised that it didn’t go,” she said.

So there really are other people out there that are in college and don’t have time to do homework! I know, it sounds ridiculous but somehow it always happens.

Has anyone noticed that I’m a little obsessed with uneetee? I’m not sure what it is. But whenever I’m looking for tees to post about it just seems that I can always find something I like there.

I might prefer the notes being a different color… pink really isn’t my favorite. But the design is good enough for me not to mind!

EKA - The world's 4th Fastest Super Computer

Posted: 29 Mar 2008 12:51 AM CDT

In November 2007 EKA was announced, which is privately funded supercomputer. Eka, built by CRL, Pune is the world’s 4th fastest supercomputer, and the fastest one that didn’t use government funding. This is the same supercomputer referenced in Yahoo!’s recent announcement about cloud computing research at the Hadoop Summit. This article describes some of the technical details of Eka’s design and implementation.

My town - pune is home to some of the best supercomputing research and development facility into the area of software and other related technology. C-DAC (a scientific society of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India) has developed and supplied a range of high performance parallel computers, known as the PARAM series of supercomputers. Now CRL - a tata group company build the EKa one of the top 10 supercomputers in the world, Eka is the only system that was fully privately funded. All other systems used government money, so all of them are for captive use. This means that Eka is the only system in the top 10 that is available for commercial use without strings attached.

The computing infrastructure itself consists of:

  1. 1800 blades, 4 cores each. 3Ghz for each core.
  2. HP SFS clusters
  3. 28TB memory
  4. 80TB storage. Simple SATA disks. 5.2Gbps throughput.
  5. Lustre distributed file-system
  6. 20Gbps infiniband DDR. Eka was on the cutting edge of Infiniband technology. They sourced their infiniband hardware from an Israeli company and where amongst the first users of their releases - including beta, and even alpha quality stuff.
  7. Multiple Gigabit ethernets
  8. Linux is the underlying OS. Any Linux will work - RedHat, SuSe, your favorite distribution.

Creepy White Van T-shirt Helps Prevent Crime

Posted: 29 Mar 2008 11:56 AM CDT

lucky threadz green tee shirt While some tee shirts are designed to be as attractive as possible; Creepy White Van T-shirt (by Travis Pitts) was strangely designed with “crime prevention” in mind. Here’s how:

If there's one thing I know from experience- it's that windowless white cargo vans are always involved in crime; driven by child molesters, kidnappers, burglars, rapists, murderers, terrorists or shifty, illegal work crews. They're always beaten to shit- have chains, straps or rope hanging out the back, and look like they've been pried open from the inside. Is that rust…or dried blood? I swear I don’t know why they still make them…..If they’d just stop making them, I bet crime would drop, like, 85% overnight.

Good T-shirt not only makes its owner look awesome, but also creates conversion. Get this tee from Lucky Threadz for $16, the real white creepy van is not included

Postfix and MS-Exchange Mail Server Affected by ORDB.org Spam Service

Posted: 27 Mar 2008 01:03 PM CDT

Since y’day I noticed one of our article related to ORDB.org spam blocker receiving lots of traffic. I received couple of calls from our clients because most emails was getting bounced via Exchange or Postfix mail server.

ORDB is now configured to return each IP as spam source

ORDB was a database of open relay email servers, provided until 2006 as a voluntary service to block spam. Now ORDB.org service has been re-activated and it is returning every IP address queried as being on its blacklist. I guess this was done to punish lazy sys admin / mail administrators ;)

If you or your mail server / gateway / firewall querying relays.ordb.org; please stop it immediately. If you query relays.ordb.org - mail server will rejecting all incoming mails from that server.

Symantec Mail Security for MS-Exchange Server - Spam Filter

Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange configuration in the list of Anti-spam blacklist servers including relays.ordb.org. Immediately remove the entry.

Remove ORDB.ORG from MS-Exchange Server Spam Filter

In Exchange Server 2003 you can find the feature for blacklist support within the global settings of your organization. Visit MS-Exchange System Manager > Global Settings > Message Delivery Properties -> Connection Filtering tab > Remove relays.ordb.org

Remove Linux / UNIX - Postfix Mail Server - Spam Filter

Open postfix configuration file and remove the following line:
reject_rbl_client relays.ordb.org,
Restart postfix mail server:
# service postfix restart

History and Culture of Unix Programming - The Art of Unix Programming

Posted: 27 Mar 2008 03:35 AM CDT

The Art of Unix Programming by Eric Raymond is a book about the history and culture of Unix programming from its earliest days in 1969 to now, covering both genetic derivations such as BSD and conceptual ones such as Linux.

You should read this book if you are an experienced Unix programmer who is often in the position of either educating novice programmers or debating partisans of other operating systems, and you find it hard to articulate the benefits of the Unix approach.

You should read this book if you are a C, C++, or Java programmer with experience on other operating systems and you are about to start a Unix-based project.

You should read this book if you are a Unix user with novice-level up to middle-level skills in the operating system, but little development experience, and want to learn how to design software effectively under Unix.

You can read HTML version of “The Art of Unix Programming” online at Eric’s website.

Download of the day: Wackamolem ~ Making a Cluster Highly Available

Posted: 27 Mar 2008 03:23 AM CDT

Wackamole is an interesting application that helps with making a cluster highly available. It runs a service using multiple DNS RR records without the worry of one of the machines crashing — if the machine crashes, the virtual IP addresses it was responsible for will be managed by the remaining machines in the cluster. Wackamole is quite unique in that it operates in a completely peer-to-peer mode within the cluster. From the project home page:

Wackamole is an application that helps with making a cluster highly available. It manages a bunch of virtual IPs, that should be available to the outside world at all times. Wackamole ensures that a single machine within a cluster is listening on each virtual IP address that Wackamole manages. If it discovers that particular machines within the cluster are not alive, it will almost immediately ensure that other machines acquire these public IPs. At no time will more than one machine listen on any virtual IP. Wackamole also works toward achieving a balanced distribution of number IPs on the machine within the cluster it manages.

First album in sixteen years was recorded in Athens, Georgia and produced by Steve Osborne (Doves, New Order, Happy Mondays) along with the beat programming of Pete Davis (Bjork, Shakira, Gwen Stefani). The limited 180-gram vinyl pressing includes a bonus CD of the entire album plus MP3 files.

The Black Crowes-Warpaint LP+7"
Limited edition vinyl pressing includes a 7" picture disc with bonus tracks.

James Blackshaw-Celeste
James Blackshaw-Sunshrine
James Blackshaw-Lost Prayers & Motionless Dances

Boys Noize-Oi Oi Oi Remixed

The Charalambides-Rose/Thorn LP

Counting Crows-Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings
First studio album in six years is two-albums-in-one -- one for Saturday Night and one for Sunday Morning. Initial copies come with a bonus DVD containing six music videos, ranging from "Mr. Jones" from their 1993 debut to the 2002 hit "American Girl."

Crystal Castles-Crystal Castles
Hardcore electronic glitch-pop from Toronto.

Current 93-Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Starre LP

De Novo Dahl-Move Every Muscle, Make Every Sound
This Nashville-based quintet's new album is poised to take their creativity to strange new heights. With musical influences that range from Mercury Rev, Air and Jeff Tweedy to The Beach Boys, The Supremes and Stevie Wonder, this album mixes electronic layers with vintage garage-rock sounds to create a modern and completely engaging axis of experimental rock. Free set of De Novo Dahl paper dolls with purchase.

Lou Donaldson-Here 'Tis

Justin Townes Earle-The Good Life
With Justin Townes Earle's pedigree come mixed blessings. As the son of legendary singer/songwriter Steve Earle, high expectations are the name of the game and he's shown that he is up to the task -- crafting stark portraits and narrative tales with elements of blues, classic country and rock & roll.

Kathleen Edwards-Asking For Flowers LP

Elf Power-In A Cave CD/LP
On their ninth album these seasoned indie rockers find the perfect synthesis of their organic live performances, instinctual ensemble playing and openhearted experimentation. One of their most psychedelic records, it offers thirteen otherworldly tracks of chugging Krautrock rhythms, sing-song pop and harmonically dense balladry. "Their harmonious, peaceful vibe is a testament to the band's Elephant 6 heritage." -- Spin

Evangelista-Hello Voyager CD/LP
Evangelista is the new band moniker of Carla Bozulich (Ethyl Meatplow, Geraldine Fibbers, Scarnella). Raw, beautifully ravaged, semi-improvised soundscapes underpin Carla's incantatory sung and spoken lyrics. Includes contributions from over a dozen Montreal players, including most of Thee Silver Mt. Zion. File under: Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Excepter-Debt Dept CD/LP
This six-person electronic-noise-improv group from Brooklyn is devoted to the destruction of boundaries between the Psychic Friends Network and reality television. This is an album of protest songs played in anti-commercial style with a timeless message for today's election-year consumer. Scary.

Foxboro Hot Tubs (Green Day)-Mother Mary b/w She's A Saint 7"
Billie Joe and Co. go all '60s garage-pop on this pseudonymous release.

Gnarls Barkley-The Odd Couple
Latest from Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse also rush-released. Vinyl coming in time for Record Store Day.

Janet Jackson-Discipline 2xLP

Kid Dakota-A Winner's Shadow
Dusty, heartfelt, roots-tinged rock that conjures desolate landscapes and tugs at the heartstrings.

Daniel Lanois-Here Is What Is
Daniel Lanois has created an album full of viscerally powerful and beautiful new tracks that rank among his best. Recorded with drummer Brian Blade (Joshua Redman, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones) and pianist Garth Hudson (The Band), the album captures Lanois' signature musical sensibilities and virtuosity. It also includes philosophical interludes and inspiring conversations with Brian Eno taken from the film of the same name. (The DVD will be available April 1.)

Lemonheads-It's A Shame About Ray: Collector's Edition CD+DVD
Deluxe edition of Evan Dando's breakthrough 1992 album adds demos, acoustic versions and a DVD with music videos and live performances from the era.

The Mae Shi-HLLLYH
Frantic no-wave electro pop bliss! L.A.'s Mae Shi brings on the swirling synthesizers and heavy party jams. Recently earned a hearty 8.1 rating from Pitchfork.

Brad Mehldau Trio-Live
The dozen tracks on this double-disc set were recorded by the trio (Mehldau, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard) at the Village Vanguard in New York City over four evenings in October 2006. The material spans from Tin Pan Alley to Brit-Pop (Oasis' "Wonderwall"), from bossa nova to grunge (Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun").

Morrissey-Greatest Hits CD/2xCD
Solo career retrospective spanning the past twenty years includes thirteen classic Mozzer tracks as well as two new tunes, "That's How People Grow Up" and "All You Need Is Me." Deluxe edition adds a live CD recorded at the Hollywood Bowl and fancier packaging.

Panic At The Disco-Pretty. Odd.
In addition to an exclamation point, the band has also ditched the ProTools studio environment, opting for real instruments and live tracking in an effort to capture a '60s pop sound a la The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan and The Beatles. To these ears it sounds more like E.L.O., which ain't necessarily a bad thing.

Panther-14kt God LP

Pennywise-Reason To Believe CD
Ninth studio album from punk heroes Pennywise represents a bristling return to the roots of their unmistakable sound. Limited edition package includes a poster.

Plants And Animals-Parc Avenue CD
Full-length debut from the Montreal trio is a sprawling opus that owes as much to the spirit of Nina Simone and Ali Farka Toure as it does to the epic sound of Canadian contemporaries Arcade Fire. Recorded entirely to analog tape, from classic '70s guitar tones to folksy ballads to sea shanties-turned-post-rock, Parc Avenue is the sound of rock & roll roots re-invented.

The Raconteurs-Consolers Of The Lonely CD/LP
Second album is rush-released to hype-tacular effect. Here it is! Available everywhere at the same time! LP is a glorious tri-fold, 180-gram, mastered from 2" master tape double-LP. (Props for the cover of Terry Reid's "Rich Kid Blues".)

Freddie Redd-Shades Of Redd

DJ Shadow/Cut Chemist-Present The Hard Sell (Encore)
Chapter Three in the Freeze/Product Placement series. Eight turntables, four mixers, a couple guitar pedals and piles of 7" 45s -- all mixed live. Cover art shows giant robotic jukeboxes destroying iPods. Cool.

Wayne Shorter-The Soothsayer

Horace Silver-Further Explorations By The Horace Silver Quintet

Guilty Simpson-Ode To The Ghetto

Thee Silver Mt. Zion (Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band)-13 Blues For Thirteen Moons
The band's first release in three years finds them louder and looser with crackling guitar crescendos, dive-bombing swirls of strings and group vocal passages that are positively spine tingling. File under: Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Singer-Unhistories CD/LP
Singer is comprised of Robert A.A. Lowe (Lichens, 90 Day Men), Ben Vida (Bird Show, Town And Country), and U.S. Maple members Todd Rittmann and Adam Vida. The album features all four of these kids singing and harmonizing new chords over their communal cacapho-din.

Skyscraper Issue #27
Includes articles on Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks, Dillinger Escape Plan, Black Mountain, Magnolia Electric Co., Dan Deacon, a special feature on the Top Underrated Records Of 2007 and much more.

Elliott Smith-XO LP
Elliott Smith-Figure 8 2xLP
Long-awaited reissues pressed on 180-gram vinyl with original artwork and lyric sheet inserts.

Switches-Present Lay Down The Law
New British band are all about three-part harmonies, new wave bounce, and guitars that go "chug."

Stanley Turrentine-Look Out!

Under Byen-Siamesisk

Valet-Naked Acid LP

Yeti Issue #5 Book+CD
Includes musical contributions from and/or interviews with Jeff Mangum, Akron/Family, Will Oldham, Karen Dalton, Dean & Britta (covering Galaxie 500 on the CD), Deerhoof, Vashti Bunyan, Tara Jane O'Neil, Iron And Wine and many others. Also features travel journals, poetry, fiction, visual art and much, much more. 240 pages with a gorgeous metallic cover.

John Zorn-The Dreamers
Continuing in the tradition of 2001's The Gift, Zorn combines a lifetime of musical passions -- world music, movie soundtracks, jazz, minimalism, exotica, funk, surf rock and more -- to create a vibrant and multifaceted collection of exquisite, instrumental fairy tales. Includes a sticker sheet of cute cartoon animals.

Saturday May 31, 2008-Brothers And Sisters-3pm
http://www.myspace.com/brothersandsistersmusic
Brothers and Sisters is a band out of time. Led by real-life siblings Will and Lily Courtney, their music entirely lacks the calculated cool of contemporary indie rock and seems totally oblivious to the cynical machinations of the music business. In an indie world currently hell-bent on exhuming the still-warm corpse of post-punk, Brothers and Sisters reach back to a sunnier age, when idioms as disparate as polished West Coast pop, rock and roll choogle, AM radio balladry and classic country could still rub up against each other at the same hazy Topanga canyon party. Make sure to catch them the night before at Lola's in Ft. Worth.

Just to get this out of the way early you will be required to bust your butt and are NOT allowed to smoke marijuana on the clock. You must also know your alphabet and know how to count. Musical knowledge would be grand. If you have recently applied stop in and remind us as such.

Hi everybody,
this is Jason....No....I mean..this is a friend of Jason's ...uh...no..I
mean..
this is a monkey wearing a sombrero riding a border collie bringing Jason a
taco.
But Jason isnt hungry right now because he is recording an album, and being
hungry makes you gnarly, and it makes you nail your guitar solos, and piano
arpeggios, and taco bits in your teeth is bad for vocal overdubs.
Anyways.....here is a little something for the enjoyment of the folks
on Talkscape and whomever else might be interested.
Behold!!...........THE FAMBLY DEMOS
They are free of course,
BUT please, please, please donate money to the EMMETT O'LOUGHLIN Fund if you
end up enjoying this stuff (Make A Donation button on the website).....or
even if you dont. In the end we can all get a little sumthing and feel good
about giving a little sumthing as well
O.K then
ENJOY!

B-52's-Funplex
First album in sixteen years was recorded in Athens, Georgia and produced by Steve Osborne (Doves, New Order, Happy Mondays) along with the beat programming of Pete Davis (Bjork, Shakira, Gwen Stefani). A combination of electronic and guitar grooves that will certainly launch the distinctive melodies, vocal harmonies and lyrics of The B-52s into a whole new universe.

Worth.

DIY: Create Robots with Linux

Posted: 26 Mar 2008 12:02 PM CDT

ASIMO is a humanoid robot manufactured by Honda which is quite high tech and expensive gadget. You can hired out it for US $166,000 per year. However, as usual Linux provides you an opportunity to build your own robot. Linux-based robots are tricky to create, but Michael Surran’s Robotics class found out it can be done:

Robots have been a passion of mine since I was a child, so imagine my excitement when I was given the opportunity to add a robotics class to our high school’s computer curriculum! We recently celebrated our second year of offering robotics at Greater Houlton Christian Academy (GHCA), the school where I teach. During this time, we’ve produced three different robots, each based on a PC running Linux. We work with a tight budget, so we have to be creative in our design, use of materials and tools. This results in robots that any do-it-yourself hobbyist can build.

Though, this article doesn’t give step-by-step instructions on how to build a DIY robot. It proivdes some getting started hints. Linux and robotics are a perfect combination!

Transformer tee shirt black Transformer tee shirt white bumblebee

It’s been quite some time since I posted my favorite Transformer tee shirts from few online shops like Stylin Online, Hottopic and 80sTees.com. I thought those were all, until I visited Stylin Online yesterday and got to know their new addition of Transformer T-shirts.

Most of these tees are pretty awesome, regardless whether you are a big fan of Transformer the movie or the cartoon/anime version; or even you are not fan but looking for simply nice graphic tees. They are worth a look, if not your dollars. I rarely found these kind of Transformer tees, Stylin Online has done good job. There are actually some more good pop culture and movie tee shirts on the shop, but I will post some more about them on another day.

Linux Ramback: Use a Terabyte of RAM

Posted: 24 Mar 2008 03:26 AM CDT

An experimental new design for Linux’s virtual memory system would turn a large amount of system RAM into a fast RAM disk with automatic sync to magnetic media. Most servers comes with 2-16 GB ram installed but not with a terabyte of installed memory (for 1TB+ ram go with IBM / Sun E25k server line). There is a new kernel patch called Ramback:

Ramback is a new virtual device with the ability to back a ramdisk by a real disk, obtaining the performance level of a ramdisk but with the data durability of a hard disk. To work this magic, ramback needs a little help from a UPS. In a typical test, ramback reduced a 25 second file operation to under one second including sync. Even greater gains are possible for seek-intensive applications. The difference between ramback and an ordinary ramdisk is: when the machine powers down the data does not vanish because it is continuously saved to backing store. When line power returns, the backing store repopulates the ramdisk while allowing application io to proceed concurrently. Once fully populated, a little green light winks on and file operations once again run at ramdisk speed.

However, this solution depends upon UPS:

If line power goes out while ramback is running, the UPS kicks in and a power management script switches the driver from writeback to writethrough mode. Ramback proceeds to save all remaining dirty data while forcing each new application write through to backing store immediately.

Raconteurs Vinyl Listening Party And Free Pizza Tuesday March 25th 7pm

We're VERY excited about the new Raconteurs album dropping this weeek. It's called Consolers Of The Lonely and in a new attempt to create as level a playing field as possible and to keep leaks to
a minimum, The Raconteurs have decided to release it all at once, in every format at the same time. Why? Here's the band's explanation, straight from the press release:

"The album was mastered and completed in the first week of March. It was then taken immediately to a vinyl pressing plant. Then to a CD pressing plant. Then preparations to sell it digitally began. March 25th became the soonest date to have it available in EVERY FORMAT AT ONCE. The band have done no interviews or advertisements for this record before this announcement.

"The purpose: to get the album to the fans as soon as possible and as we promised. We wanted to get this record to fans, the press, radio, etc., all at the EXACT SAME TIME so that no one has an upper hand on anyone else regarding it's availability, reception or perception."

To celebrate we will be hosting an old school vinyl listening party this Tuesday March 25th at 7pm along with free pizza to entice you to show up. We'll be playing the album in the store on vinyl in its entirety so come down and hear how rock music was meant to be heard!

Red Hat Open Sourced Identity, Policy, Auditing Management Security Framework Tool

Posted: 20 Mar 2008 09:44 AM CDT

Red Hat has open-sourced its identity-management and security system to promote its assertion that open-source software provides the most secure infrastructure. From the press release:

Red Hat Certificate System was acquired from AOL three years ago as part of the Netscape technology acquisition. In keeping with our commitment to open source software, today Red Hat has released all of the source code to Red Hat Certificate System. Much of the technology in Red Hat Certificate System was already open source, including the Apache web server, Red Hat Directory Server and the FIPS140-2 level 2 validated NSS cryptographic libraries, but today̢۪s move further demonstrates Red Hat̢۪s belief that the open source development model creates more secure software.

I think the freeIPA project is really good addition. It provides central management of identity, policy, and auditing for Unix and Linux using open-source and open-standards technologies.

Cygwin software offers Linux-like environment for Windows making it possible to port software running on POSIX systems (such as Linux, BSD, and Unix systems) to Windows. However, sometime you just wanna run bc or wget under Windows without going through Cygwin. Here are some ports of common GNU utilities to native Win32. In this context, native means the executables do only depend on the Microsoft C-runtime (msvcrt.dll) and not an emulation layer like that provided by Cygwin tools. A must download for die hard gnu folks working on windows systems :)

Tools included:

  • bc-1.05
  • bison-1.28
  • bzip2-1.0.2
  • diffutils-2.7
  • fileutils-3.16
  • findutils-4.1

His newest collaborative project features the legendary percussionist/composer and mystic Z'ev in a hypnotic series of pieces exploring the inner meanings of the Hebrew Alef-beit (alphabet).

Joseph Arthur-Could We Survive
First in a series of EPs from the songsmith. Raw, atmospheric pop.

Be Your Own Pet-Get Awkward

Big Dipper-Supercluster: The Big Dipper Anthology 3CD
This limited edition three-disc set is comprised of 49 remastered tracks from the legendary Boston band's original tapes, plus the mysterious "Faith Healer" video, all for an incredibly low price. Includes the Boo-Boo EP (1987) and the albums Heavens (1987) and Craps (1988) along with a plethora of previously unreleased tracks and extensive liner notes from the original band members and WFMU's Tom Scharpling.

Blowing Trees-Blowing Trees
Blowing Trees has become one of San Antonio's biggest alternative bands over the past two years. Officially formed in early 2003, Blowing Trees is the product of a long-term project originally conceived by lead singer/acoustic/songwriter, Chris Maddin.

Body Of War: Songs That Inspired An Iraq War Veteran 2xCD
Double-disc, thirty track compilation curated by Iraq war veteran Tomas Young. Features the previously unreleased Eddie Vedder song "No More" (live with Ben Harper) as well as politically charged tracks from John Lennon, Neil Young, Bright Eyes, Lupe Fiasco, Kimya Dawson, Bad Religion, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Roger Waters, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and more.

The Bravery-The Sun And The Moon Complete 2xCD
Re-launch of the acclaimed Brendan O'Brien-produced album now comes with a bonus CD where all of the tracks are "re-imagined" by Bravery frontman and chief songwriter Sam Endicott.

Marc Broussard - Must Be The Water CDEP (Atlantic)

Tasty nugget from the swamp rocker was primarily recorded over three days on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean.

The Coathangers-Shake Shake/Dreamboat 7"
The second in a new seven-inch series from Suicide Squeeze. Bonus MP3 download with the vinyl. "This Atlanta quartet is part of a proud heritage of Southern new wave like the B-52's and Pylon, with batcave keyboards, rock lobster guitars, and tons of heart-feasting vocals." -- Pitchfork

Sera Cahoone-Only As The Day Is Long
Along with being an accomplished guitarist and songwriter, Sera has played drums for Carissa's Wierd, Patrick Park and Band Of Horses. On tour with Park in 2006, she found herself inspired by the landscape and wrote an album in her thoughts as they drove along the blue highways and back roads of the expansive west and the plains. "A breathtaking collection of sad and dusky songs that reveal an artist of remarkable depth as well as a truly stunning voice." -- The Stranger

Children-Death Tribe 12"
Features the 10-minute-plus jam "Death Tribe" on Side A and a wicked etching on Side B. Includes a download card for the MP3.

Clark (Chris Clark)-Turning Dragon CD/2xLP
Chris Clark has earned his reputation as one of the world's most adventurous dance producers with a catalog of twists and turns that owe just as much to the avant-garde as they do to the dancefloor.

Crystal Castles-Crystal Castles
Crystal Castles' music uses unusual instrumentation such as placing an Atari 5200 sound chip inside a keyboard in order to produce a sound that has been described as having "ferocious, asphyxiating sheets of warped two-dimensional Gameboy glitches and bruising drum bombast pierce [the] skull with sheer shrill force, burrowing deep into the brain like a fever.

Ray Davies-Working Man's Café 2xLP
Now available on deluxe 180-gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

Destroyer-Trouble In Dreams CD/LP
Trouble In Dreams cements Dan Bejar (New Pornographers) as an artist as quirky and enigmatic as David Bowie, as symphonic and grandiose as Scott Walker, and as quixotically literary as Bob Dylan. Bonus MP3 download with the vinyl.

DeVotchka-A Mad & Faithful Telling
This four-piece multi-instrumental outfit fuses Gypsy, Greek, Slavic, and mariachi with American punk and folk roots. A Mad & Faithful Telling follows their score to the breakout indie film Little Miss Sunshine, which earned them a Grammy nod for best soundtrack. CD now, vinyl due April 8.

The Dodos-Visiter
Psych-folk duo from San Francisco. CD now, vinyl in April.

Pete Francis-Iron Sea And The Calvary (Dispatch)
New solo outing from the Dispatch singer/songwriter.

Great Northern-Sleepy Eepee CDEP
Before Great Northern honed the lush lullabies that made up its arresting debut LP, Trading Twilight For Daylight (also in stock), the L.A.-based foursome constructed a set of songs that laid the groundwork for the band's cinematic pop. This previously unreleased five-track prequel is being made available due to the fan demand. Receive a free Great Northern tote with purchase, while supplies last.

Adam Green-Sixes & Sevens
Green is formerly one half of Moldy Peaches (with Kimya Dawson). This is his fifth solo album. CD now, vinyl soon. "A queasy mix of super-sharp realism, clammy surrealism, and elegant melody." -- Mojo

Hayaino Daisuki-Headbanger's Karaoke Club Dangerous Fire CDEP
A ferocious hybrid of '80s crossover thrash with land-speed-record grind, Hayaino Daisuki's music is bursting at the seams with a kind of joy rarely heard in a musical genre that feeds off darkness and death imagery.

The Hush Sound-Goodbye Blues
Chicago band thumbs through the back pages of American music, filtering blues, swing, rock and folk through their own unique sensibility.

Jarboe/Justin K. Broadrick-J2 (Jesu)
Collaboration between Jarboe (Swans, Neurosis, A Perfect Circle) and Justin Broadrick (Napalm Death, Godflesh, Jesu). Jarboe describes it thusly: "The instrumentation will feature organ, piano, many guitars, bass, drums, and unique 'field recordings' from my personal collection. Thematically, the material reflects what may be interpreted as an ongoing interest in mysticism, the human condition, perhaps the war of the heart."

Jucifer-L'autrichienne
On Jucifer's new album, Amber Valentine's distinctive voice varies from harsh, banshee screams to softly moaned intonations against a raw palette that varies in terms of tempo and volume but never wavers in emotive intensity.

The Kills-Midnight Boom
The duo continues to subtly and organically fuse pop, glam, blues, art-punk and hip-hop in a manner that flits between light and dark, funny and morbid, experimental and cute. The result is a short, sharp album of sensual, fresh and atmospheric songs. CD now, vinyl due April 8.

Daniel Lanois-Here Is What Is
An acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer known for producing some of the greatest albums of the last two decades (U2, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Neville Brothers, more), Daniel Lanois has created an album full of viscerally powerful and beautiful new tracks that rank amongst his best. Featuring
drummer Brian Blade (Joshua Redman, Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones) and pianist Garth Hudson (The Band) Here Is What Is captures Lanois' signature musical sensibilities and virtuosity. The album also includes philosophical interludes and inspiring conversations with Brian Eno taken from the film by the same name.

The Matches-A Band In Hope
The new release from Oakland, CA's Matches is the sonic showcase the band has always deserved, matching their intense, sardonic, and infectious songs with ambitious arrangements that recall the intense studio craft of the '70s.

Mission Of Burma-Signals, Calls & Marches CD+DVD/2xLP+DVD+MP3

Rolling Stones cover story. Bonus CD: The New Dictionary Of Blues And Soul with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, The Black Keys and more.

Mooney Suzuki-CBGB Live: June 29, 2001
Llive recording from the Bowery Collection series.

Yael Naim (& David Donatien)-Yael Naim
Exotic international singer/songwriter sings in French, English and Hebrew. Includes "New Soul" as featured in the MacBook Air ad as well as an unexpected cover of Britney Spears' "Toxic."

Neon Neon-Stainless Style (Gruff Rhys & Boom Bip)
Debut full-length from this collaboration between left-field hip-hopper Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals. Similar in style to Gorillaz, Pitchfork lauds it with a 7.7 rating.

New Found Glory-Hits
NFG's first-ever greatest hits collection, chronicling the band's best-loved singles, album cuts and a couple of rare gems -- "Constant Static" (previously available as a Japanese-only bonus cut) and "Situations" (not commercially available, only streamed on Warped Tour website for a one-month period).

Gary Numan + Tubeway Army-Replicas Redux 2xCD
Deluxe edition adds a complete earlier recording of the album along with the original B-sides and further outtakes, adding up to 27 tracks across the two CDs.

Record Collector - March 2008 (#347)
Cover feature on the recording of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's Double Fantasy -- including the lowdown on the "Cheap Trick sessions."

Retribution Gospel Choir (Low)-Retribution Gospel Choir
Low visionary Alan Sparhawk cranks the amps for a radical stylistic departure. Crude, mangy guitars collide with trudging stoner-rock rhythms and catchy melodies. Three of the tracks you may know from their Low versions. Produced by Sun Kil Moon's Mark Kozelek

DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist-Hard Sell
Chapter 3 in the Brain Freeze/Product Placement saga. All 45s, All Live.

She & Him-Volume 1 (M. Ward & Zooey Deschanel)
Debut from M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel, paired together by director Martin Hynes to perform the Richard and Linda Thompson tune "When I Get To The Border" for his film The Go-Getter (2007). Their match sparked the idea for Volume One. File under: M. Ward.

The Sword-Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians 10" Picture Disc
This ultra-limited picture disc pressing is already out-of-print. The A-side is from the forthcoming full-length Gods Of The Earth, available April 1. The B-side, "Codex Corvidae" is previously unreleased.

Tall Firs-Too Old To Die Young
Tall Firs were formed in 1990 when teenagers Dave Mies and Aaron Mullan taught one another to play guitar over the telephone in Annapolis, Maryland. Eleven years later they played their first gig, having crawled to Brooklyn, NY in the interim. Halfway through the second decade of searching for a drummer, Ryan Sawyer finally assumed the throne.

The Teenagers-Reality Check CD/LP+MP3
Lo-fi French pop awash in guitar hooks and soaring electro synth riffs built around a backbone of golden pop melodies. Enveloped in sardonic wit, nonchalant and biting humor, Reality Check is full of foul innuendos and lyrics that would make Serge Gainsbourg blush. Bonus MP3 download with the vinyl.

These New Puritans-Beat Pyramid CD/LP
Recorded with Gareth Jones -- the producer of albums by Einstürzende Neubauten, Liars, and Wire -- These New Puritans' debut is an ever-mutating blur of brash chords, subtle details, and taut rhythms. It is borne of influences as disparate as early '80s industrial music to numerology -- from This Heat to dubstep, from J. Dilla to David Lynch. CD includes two bonus downloadable MP3's -- the epic "Navigate, Navigate" and the B-side "fff."

Uncut - April 2008 (Take 131)
Rolling Stones cover story. Bonus CD: Not Fade Away - 15 Classics That Fired Up The Stones with James Brown, Buddy Holly, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley and more.

Unearthly Trance-Electrocution
Electrocution oozes with mysticism and a palpable sense of purpose behind an imposing wall of gut-level riffing, canyons of low-end and pounding drums. An epic, impassioned piece of work.

Witch-Paralyzed
Witch is J Mascis (drums), Dave Sweetapple (bass), and Kyle Thomas (guitar/vocals). Paralyzed remains true to the classic stoner/doom metal sound of their 2006 self-titled debut -- however, they've returned to their punk roots and attack with a more aggressive tempo. CD now, vinyl due April 22.

GCC Compiler 4.3.0 exposes a Linux / BSD kernel bug

Posted: 19 Mar 2008 01:13 PM CDT

Since version 4.3, gcc changed its behavior concerning the x86/x86-64 ABI and the direction flag, that is it now assumes that the direction flag is cleared at the entry of a function and it doesn’t clear once more if needed. According to LWN article GCC 4.3.0 exposes a kernel bug:

A change to GCC for a recent release coupled with a kernel bug has created a messy situation, with possible security implications. GCC changed some assumptions about x86 processor flags, in accordance with the ABI standard, that can lead to memory corruption for programs built with GCC 4.3.0. No one has come up with a way to exploit the flaw, at least yet, but it clearly is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Green T-shirts: Tree Hugger vs. Tree Mugger

Posted: 19 Mar 2008 06:21 AM CDT

Tree Hugger T-shirt This T-shirt called “Tree Hugger”. This tee is sold by Ban T-shirts but there are lots of other Tree Hugger tees out there, just if you have time to googoling around. Many of these Tree Hugger tees, with organic or non-organic cotton, are usually worn by people to promote green living and build awareness of environmental issue — because many of us need to be reminded how important is this issue to us.

Meanwhile, there is another T-shirt which was created to build awareness of environmental issue — because on the other side of the world, there are people who need to be reminded how bad they are to the earth. This T-shirt called “Tree Mugger”

Interesting idea that explains how to build awesome secure and portable system using Linux. From the article:

I designed this system with both security and portability in mind. My system uses a Linux kernel and the entire thing, applications, personal data, etc, takes up 1GB of space. It is split up into two parts, the operating system, and my personal data. The operating system is a 700MB live-CD, GRML, that generates a completely fresh install every single time I boot up the computer. Doing this means that if my system is ever hacked into, a simple restart of my computer fixes the problem. This also means that any configuration changes made or private information stored by any application, restarting reverts everything to a clean slate.

The personal data is encrypted using an AES-256 algorithm. The password I type in actually unlocks a special encrypted file which unlocks the real encryption information, meaning that my actual password is never stored in RAM (more specifically, DRAM). To prevent highly sensitive information from being discovered by remote hackers, which this layer of encryption would not protect against, an extra layer of encryption using either GPG or AES-256 provides two layers of encryption for highly sensitive data.

Humor: Know your System Administrator

Posted: 17 Mar 2008 01:15 PM CDT

The joke on this page was obtained from the FSF’s email archives of the GNU Project:

There are four major species of Unix sysad:
1.The TECHNICAL THUG. Usually a systems programmer who has been forced into system administration; writes scripts in a polyglot of the Bourne shell, sed, C, awk, perl, and APL.

2.The ADMINISTRATIVE FASCIST. Usually a retentive drone (or rarely, a harridan ex-secretary) who has been forced into system administration.

3.The MANIAC. Usually an aging cracker who discovered that neither the Mossad nor Cuba are willing to pay a living wage for computer espionage. Fell into system administration; occasionally approaches major competitors with indesp schemes.

4.The IDIOT. Usually a cretin, morpohodite, or old COBOL programmer selected to be the system administrator by a committee of cretins, morphodites, and old COBOL programmers.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 Beta Released

Posted: 14 Mar 2008 11:18 AM CDT

RHEL 5.2 beta has been released. Red Hat engineers backport many of the new features from later kernels to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 kernel, such as support for new hardware and virtualization enhancements. This provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscribers with important new capabilities while maintaining stable application interfaces — so that applications continue to run after new updates are installed. And, of course, it’s always worth repeating that updates, which are released about twice a year, are included with every Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription.

This will give our you a chance to see what your systems will be running later this year. You can grab beta version from RHN.

Philippine Weather Service Finds Forecasting Cheaper with Debian Linux Cluster

Yet another Linux success story; From the article:

The Philippine government’s official weather service, PAGASA, has replaced its SGI supercomputer with a clustered Debian Linux system that can process information vital to protection against typhoons, floods, droughts, tsunamis and other wild weather conditions at a fraction of the cost.

The cluster includes eight PCs running as a single node, connected via a gigabit switch, each with dual 64-bit Intel Xeon processors running the Debian Linux OS.

Create Encrypted System Partition Under Linux / Windows / Mac OS X

Posted: 14 Mar 2008 09:59 AM CDT

TrueCrypt is a software application used for on-the-fly encryption (OTFE). It is free and open source software. TrueCrypt is available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. This software can protect date. It encrypts data stored on a computer’s disk and transparently decrypts the information when a user requests it. No special action by the user is required. From the Linux.com article:

Last month the TrueCrypt Foundation released TrueCrypt 5.0, which finally introduces a Linux GUI for the cross-platform encryption application. TrueCrypt 5.0’s numerous other enhancements include a Mac OS X port, XTS operation mode, the ability to encrypt a system partition or drive under Windows, and the addition of the SHA-512 hash algorithm

Damien-Volcom, the Twisted Logo Tee

Posted: 14 Mar 2008 06:53 AM CDT

Volcom Logo Tee shirt White guysVolcom Logo Tee shirt White guys back
Who says that skateboard logo T-shirt has to be boring? Well, I do. But sometimes an exception has to be made, and this time, the exception is against this Volcom logo T-shirt.

I’m glad the shirt (design by artist Damien) doesn’t pronounce the Volcom logo too loudly otherwise it could be just another logo tee — instead it blends the logo with sketchy art works, very nice. Here’s a little bit info about features of Damien T-shirt:

The men’s Volcom Damien tee is a short sleeve, slim-fit design made of 100% cotton fabric. This tee is a featured artist design. The front of this tee features original artwork from Volcom features artist Damien. The back lower portion features a smaller panel of the front artwork. Damien’s artwork in this design shows spiral and signature graphics.

This tee is sold for $22 and now I’m curious which artist Damien designed this tee. You can grab this tee from Becker

Don't Stop: Recording Tap
In January of 2006 the Numero Group found itself sitting three wide on a weight bench in a damp garage. Eight hours later they peeled out of the driveway with a thirty-seven tape mystery. Although Jeremiah Yisrael's Tap label only issued a handful of 12"s between 1981-83, the tape deck never stopped rolling, producing dozens of lavish songs in disco's last days. From the string heavy sugar boogie of Jackie Stoudemire and Arnie Love to pioneering raps by Missy Dee & The Melody Crew and The Fabulous 3 MCs, Recording Tap covers a wide swath of New York's all night sound. This single-disc set includes a miniature songbook and expansive booklet stuffed with photos and memorabilia, all housed in a miniature replica tape box. CD now, limited 3xLP+CD box set due sometime in April. File under: Old School.

Dropkick Murphys-The Meanest Of Times CD+DVD
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day! The Meanest Of Times has been repackaged with five extra tracks (including their cover of Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak," as heard in a Miller beer commercial) and a bonus DVD containing a mini-movie on the band's St. Patrick's Day charity breakfast in Boston, the music video for "The State Of Massachusetts" and more.

Initial copies come with a bonus 7" 45 sporting a previously unreleased instrumental B-side.

Jimmy Smith-Live At The Baby Grand, Vol. 1
Jimmy Smith-Live At The Baby Grand, Vol. 2

Louis Smith-Here Comes Louis Smith

Son Lux-At War With Walls And Mazes CD/LP
"Intriguing debut by composer Ryan Lott is an unusual blend of approaches, especially for a release on Anticon: the lyrical concerns of Sufjan Stevens circa Seven Swans, sonic techniques from Massive Attack, and the classical habits of Nico Muhly. [7.0]" -- Pitchfork

Snoop Dogg-Ego Trippin
The hip-hop legend returns with his ninth solo album, anchored by the fun-kay hit single "Sexual Eruption (Sensual Seduction)." Initial copies come with a bonus DVD with six music videos, including "Drop It Like It's Hot." CD now, vinyl available in two weeks.

The Thing With Ken Vandermark-Immediate Sound
The Thing team up with their longtime friend Ken Vandermark to create some of their finest work. Recorded live at Chicago's Hideout, April 2007, this album leans more towards the classical free-jazz sound of the '60s.

Wax Poetics-February/March 2008
Cover feature on Grandmaster Flash. Includes articles on Camp Lo, Build An Ark, Funky Cuba, Eddie Harris, Mighty Hannibal and much more.

Who's Your Favorite Son God?-Out Of Body Diva
Debut album from Sacramento avant-rock band.

Why?-Alopecia
Why? -- Yoni Wolf, Josiah Wolf, Doug McDiarmid -- continue a calculated blitzkrieg on the jangle-rap, indie pop 'n' roll genre. Recorded at Minneapolis's Third Ear studio with Fog mastermind Andrew Broder and bassist Mark "Bear" Erickson, they throw their samplers to the wind (mostly), recording live as a five-piece. CD now, vinyl soon.

The Great Escape Story of Your PC/Mac Keyboard

Graphic-art wise, this “Fugitive” tee shirt may look very simple but has anyone think about this “Ctrl” chasing “Esc” button before? I’m sure anyone who has used pc/mac/ keyboard, at least once in their lifetime, will get a good laugh at this.

And they don’t have to be geek to understand this T-shirt, right? This $12 bucks tee shirt currently on Uneetee’s front page — until end of this week.

Open Source Software and Hardware Inventory Management Software

Posted: 11 Mar 2008 01:21 PM CDT

I’m looking for good open source software and hardware inventory management software. A quick search on sourceforge returned following inventory management system / software management apps:

=> OCS Inventory NG, Open Computers and Software Inventory Next Generation is an application designed to help administrator keep track of the computers configuration and installed softwares. Low network traffic HTTP communications between agents and server. I’m currently testing this software and I will update all of you about my results.

Other old (outdated) softwares

=> PcInventory Web-based system to track the Pc and the installed peripherals.

=> phpMyInventory is a web-based hardware, software, and peripheral inventory system using PHP & MySQL. Currently stable on PHP version 4xx only!

=> Windows Inventory. A Computer Hardware and Software Inventory system. Based around wmi, vbscript, mysql & php. Expandable via modules to include software distribution, remote control, event viewer, disk monitoring, etc.

Most of these software are outdated. Basically, I need to keep inventory for following items

  • Open source inventory asset management software
  • Should able to track inventory
  • Auditing feature
  • Inventory of equipment owned and leased (including lease expiry)
  • Software inventory for both Windows and UNIX systems
  • Import / Export function etc

Do you have any recommendations for me? Please add them in the comments.

Load Balancer Open Source Software

Posted: 11 Mar 2008 11:01 AM CDT

I’ve worked with a various load balancing systems (LBS). They are complex pieces of hardware and software. In this post I will highlight some of the open source load balancing software. But what is load balancing?
It is nothing but a technique used to share (spared) load / services between two or more servers. For example, busy e-commerce or bank website uses load balancer to increase reliability, throughput, uptime, response time and better resource utilization. You can use following softwares as an advanced load balancing solution for web, cache, dns, mail, ftp, auth servers, VoIP services etc.

Linux Virtual Server (LVS)

LVS is ultimate open source Linux load sharing and balancing software. You can easily build a high-performance and highly available server for Linux using this software. From the project page:

Virtual server is a highly scalable and highly available server built on a cluster of real servers. The architecture of server cluster is fully transparent to end users, and the users interact with the cluster system as if it were only a single high-performance virtual server.

=> Project Web Site

Red Hat Cluster Suite

It is a high availability cluster software implementation from Linux leader Red Hat. It provide two type services:

  1. Application / Service Failover - Create n-node server clusters for failover of key applications and services
  2. IP Load Balancing - Load balance incoming IP network requests across a farm of servers

=> Product web page

The High Availability Linux Project

Linux-HA provides sophisticated high-availability (failover) capabilities on a wide range of platforms, supporting several tens of thousands of mission critical sites.

=> Project web site

Ultra Monkey

Ultra Monkey is a project to create load balanced and highly available network services. For example a cluster of web servers that appear as a single web server to end-users. The service may be for end-users across the world connected via the internet, or for enterprise users connected via an intranet.

Ultra Monkey makes use of the Linux operating system to provide a flexible solution that can be tailored to a wide range of needs. From small clusters of only two nodes to large systems serving thousands of connections per second.

=> Project web site

Personally, I’ve worked with both LVS and Red Hat Cluster Suite and I highly recommend these softwares.

Cryptacize began across the street from the C&H Sugar Factory in Crockett, CA, where Nedelle and Chris (Deerhoof) lived in a tilted apartment. Constant dizziness and the smell of burning sugar became a permanent part of their psyches, and is consequently their biggest influence. One morning while brushing their teeth, toothpaste running sideways out of their mouths, Nedelle pronounced the word 'Cryptacize' and the house appeared to incline in the opposite direction! Soon after this strange incident, they discovered something even stranger on youtube - a drummer named Michael Carreira. Having only seen his video, which was a closeup of his hands, they sought him out and convinced him to join their uncanny crusade. Catch them here before they play with Why? later that night in Denton.

Nathan Bell (Arbouretum) and Dave Heumann (Lungfish) first started playing music togther sometime after the start of '99 and definitely before the end of '01. It was soon apparent that they'd hit upon a winning combination - they found an unusual synergy of writing styles that has enabled them, at times, to compose a whole album's worth of songs together in the course of a leisurely afternoon. The style of music that they found themselves playing defies categorization, but has been described by listeners as containing aspects of minimalism, pre-war american blues/folk, and middle eastern and african musics. They are stopping off their way to hook up with the Boredoms. This will be their only show in the area.

Friday March 14, 2008-Corn Mo-6pm

http://www.cornmo.com
Corn Mo will be stopping by on his way from Austin to Dan's Silverleaf in Denton. We are always happy to see Jon Cunningham and company. Let's welcome him home in style

Sunday March 16, 2008-The LK-5pm

http://www.thelkhideout.com
The LK, from Malmo, Sweden, will embark on their first full American tour to promote their upcoming US release - VS the Snow. The LK compose music using color and shapes as artistic guidelines (Lindefelt is a color-timbre synesthete), incorporating motion graphics into the live show, frequently experimenting with the dynamics of both abstract visual work and short films in the context of their music. This will be there only show in Dallas.

Lighttpd Control a Directory Listing With mod_dirlisting

Posted: 07 Mar 2008 10:48 PM CST

Lighttpd web server will generate a directory listing if a directory is requested and no index-file was found in that directory. mod_dirlisting is one of the modules that is loaded by default and doesn’t have to be specified on server.modules to work.

Task: Enable Directory Listings Globally

Open lighttpd configuration file:
# vi /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf
Append / modify
server.dir-listing = "enable"
OR
dir-listing.activate = "enable"
Save and close the file. Restart lighttpd:
# /etc/init.d/lighttpd restart
To disable directory listing, use:
dir-listing.activate = "disable"

Enable directory listing only for a directory

You can also enable or disable listing on selected url / directory combination. For example, display directory listing only for /files/:
$HTTP["url"] =~ "^/files($|/)" { server.dir-listing = "enable" }
OR
$HTTP["url"] =~ "^/files($|/)" { dir-listing.activate = "enable" }

Display IP Address Allocation Table According to Subnet Mask

Posted: 07 Mar 2008 10:24 PM CST

If you need a tabular representation of relationships and source of the various variables representing a chunk from /32 to /0 subnets use iptab command. This is useful if you are allocating IPs to end users. Following information is displayed with the command:
=> CIDR notation

=> Network Mask

=> Available Networks

=> Available Hosts per network

=> Total usable hosts

$ iptab
Sample output:

Past, Present and Future

I love this design from Threadless. It’s showing what we’re doing to the environment currently, what it was like in the past and how it will be in the future.

Seriously everyone, stop throwing your cans on the ground and recycle, it really isn’t that hard (Not that anyone that reads The Daily Tee would do that, but tell your friends!).

Anyways, I just placed my order for this one. Plus I got 5 new tees from DBH in the mail today - reviews coming next week (well if I can find the cord to my camera)!

P.S. I have been accumulating a pretty big pile of sample tees from various shirt companies. I’m thinking that I need to start having contests and giving these out to you guys (the only reason I get them is because you all read this site, so you all deserve them more than I do!) So if anyone has any creative (that’s how I like it) contest/raffle ideas, let me know!

Rocawear T-shirt, Oh Those Shiny Stars!

rocawear tee shirt white

A white tee shirt doesn’t have to be so plain. I found this Rocawear tee a little bit too shiny with its stars pattern all over the shirt. But for those who look for some kind of party shirt; this item could be one nice “costume” (or whatever you name it).

$26 bucks and that is what you’re going to pay for this 100% cotton tee. Did I tell you that this tee was made in India? Yes, it is. Get this tee here

Anyone got a light?

This tee is $61, therefore I won’t be buying it. But in another lifetime where I could afford $61 tees I definitely would. This tee is by Viper Black. The appeal to me is that the matches look so roughly drawn.

They are so simplistic… and well… honestly I(someone with very little artistic skill) could draw them. I don’t mean this as a bad thing at all, I think the print is incredibly interesting… but maybe that’s just me!

If anyone ends up buying this or has a tee from Viper Black let me know what you think. I’d love to know if you think its worth the $60.
