FEBRUARY 12th NEW RELEASES
***********************************************
Baby Walrus-Baby Walrus CD/LP
The third release on Saddle Creek's understudy label Slumber Party Records, Baby Walrus' diverse self-titled album is the work of Art In Manila/Flowers Forever collaborator Chris Senseney on guitar, keyboards and vocals, with Spaceage Polymers members John P. Voris on percussion and Dylan Strimple on guitar and keyboards.

British Sea Power-Do You Like Rock Music? CD/LP
The third album by Brighton-based rockers British Sea Power is a thrilling mixture of classic Pixies-esque guitar rock and the joyous bombast of Arcade Fire. "It's our version of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde," says guitarist Martin Noble. "It's about cherry wood and Kevlar -- about the good and the bad. There are good reasons for anxiety at the moment -- but if we're in danger let's address the danger with optimism, loud distorted chords and the knowledge that we're at least trying. That's rock music, isn't it?" The vinyl includes a copy of the album on CD -- yay!!

Carolina Funk: First In Funk 1968-1977
The 4th installment in the now classic series that began with Texas Funk, Midwest Funk and Florida Funk. Another regional home run in the funk sweepstakes from Egon, Jazzman Gerald and crew. Contains rare gems by the likes of Gamith, Carleen & The Groovers, Primitive and James Reese & The
Progressions and more as sampled by Cut Chemist and J. Rocc.

City And Colour (Alexisonfire)-Bring Me Your Love
"The second album from Dallas Green's solo project City And Colour shows an artist settling nicely into his new gig as an acoustic singer/songwriter. It's both warmer and more intimate than its predecessor, Sometimes. Green's voice is still ethereal, but it's also stronger and more self-assured. Those who are unfamiliar with his work in the raucous post-hardcore group Alexisonfire could be forgiven for thinking that he's a veteran of the acoustic circuit." -- allmusic.com

Droppin Science: Greatest Samples From The Blue Note Lab CD/LP
From A Tribe Called Quest to Gang Starr to Dr. Dre to the Beastie Boys, Blue Note has been the source of a deep groove, a soulful vamp, or hittin' beat that we associate with some of the greatest hip-hop songs. Blue Note is Droppin' Science, bringing it back to the lab of the jazz, funk, and soul chemists who gave the label some of the most influential and groundbreaking music of their time.

Flo & Eddie-The Phlorescent Leech & Eddie
On CD for the first time, 2 long-lost albums from 1972 and 1974 by Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (The Turtles, Frank Zappa). Digitally remastered for the 21st Century.

Goldfrapp-A&E
The first EP from Goldfrapp's forthcoming album Seventh Tree (to be released in both regular and deluxe editions on February 26) includes remixes by Maps, Gui Boratto and Hercules And Love Affair.

Guru-Best Of Jassmatazz
Features eighteen essential tracks, including: "Trust Me," Watch What You Say," "Keep Your Worries" and "Lift Your Fist."

Idiot Pilot-Wolves CD/LP
On Wolves, Idiot Pilot bolsters their electro-rock sound with catchy melodies and sterling production, courtesy of nu-metal/hardcore veteran Ross Robinson and Mark Hoppus (Blink 182/+44).

Michael Jackson-Thriller CD/DLX CD
Epic/Legacy's release of a 25th-anniversary edition of Thriller — tricked out with five remixes, an unreleased track, and a DVD — is a good time to place this creation in its proper art-historical context. From the video, the songs and the illusionary "Moonwalk", this is the
Michael Jackson of legend, and rightly so.

Freedy Johnston-My Favorite Waste Of Time
Freedy's covers album, previously only available via his website and on tour. Ten mostly happy songs by Marshall Crenshaw, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Matthew Sweet and other greats. The sessions were recorded in Nashville with legendary bassist Bob Babbitt, drummer Ed Greene, and a whole posse of guest musicians.

Metric-Live At Metropolis DVD
New concert DVD captures Emily Haines and the entire Metric jamming out at the Fall 2006 Montreal stop on their Live It Out Tour. Also includes the videos for three Live It Out singles: "Monster Hospital," "Poster Of A Girl," and "Empty."

Controversy: A Tribute To Prince
As Prince celebrates 30 years as a mainstream artist, a selection of musicians from a wide range of genres have taken some of his classic songs and interpreted them in their own way. Controversy: A Tribute To Prince includes new takes on a host of tracks from the pop legend's back catalog. Thirteen artists have chipped in for this effort, including Soulwax, D'Angelo, Peaches, Stina Nordenstam and Hefner.

The Puppini Sisters-The Rise & Fall Of Ruby Woo
The girls are back with their trademark fusion of 1940s harmonies and modern day pop.

Simple Plan-Simple Plan
Two albums. Seven million records sold worldwide. A string of Top 40 hits like I'd Do Anything, Addicted, Perfect and Welcome to My Life. Here is album #3.

Stones Throw: In Living The True Gods DVD
Stones Throw's first DVD, Stones Throw 101 served as a primer course for those unfamiliar with the label's video releases, and included one of indie hip-hop's greatest visual moments, the animated Madvillain "All Caps" video. Directors of Stones Throw 101 videos have gone on to great heights, working for the likes of Nas, Young Buck, Ludacris and alongside visionaries like Michel Gondry.
For the label's follow up, the West Coast mavericks have assembled a more advanced curriculum, In Living The True Gods - a line borrowed from Madvillain's "Accordion," seen for the first time on this collection. From the surrealist Quasimoto "Bullyshit" animated video to the late J Dilla's last appearance on film in MED's "Push" to the neo-noir animated nightmare of Madvillain's "Monkey Suite," this anthology demonstrates Stones Throw's widening, and never retiring, creative base. A series of bonus features range from an exclusive J Dilla interview from 2003 to a mini-documentary Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf, shot in session on VHS in 1992.

The LK, from Malmo, Sweden, will embark on their first full American tour to promote their upcoming US release - VS the Snow. The LK compose music using color and shapes as artistic guidelines (Lindefelt is a color-timbre synesthete), incorporating motion graphics into the live show, frequently experimenting with the dynamics of both abstract visual work and short films in the context of their music. This will be there only show in Dallas.

Tuesday March 18, 2008-Silje Nes-5pm
http://www.myspace.com/siljenes
http://fat-cat.co.uk/fatcat/artistInfo.php?artist=Silje+Nes
Silje is a songwriter who likes to experiment and find new ways to use sounds and instruments in her music. She has studied classical piano, played timpani in an Orchestra, played drums in a marching band and played in a traditional indie pop band, - but when she started recording her songs, she worked with her laptop and a lot of instruments she had no previous experience of playing. She plays around with instruments and sounds without conventions, and combined with her good songwriting, the result is stunningly beautiful. She will be opening for The Dodos the next night at Lola's in Ft. Worth.

They will be playing at Lola's in Ft. Worth the next night.
